The modular design allows for future enhancements, including wireless connectivity, data logging, and integration with weather forecasting systems. While the current implementation focuses on basic functionality, the system architecture supports expansion to include more advanced features for commercial agricultural applications. Certainly! Here's how you can present the challenges faced in the "Challenges Facing" section of the report:

Challenges Facing

Despite the successful design and implementation of the soil moisture monitoring and automated irrigation system, several challenges were encountered during the project development. One significant issue was related to software development, particularly in finding the appropriate libraries for the STM32F446RE Nucleo microcontroller. Library Compatibility Issues While attempting to integrate various components such as the LCD display, soil moisture sensor, and relay module, it became apparent that the available libraries were primarily designed for other frameworks or microcontroller boards, rather than being directly compatible with the STM32F446RE Nucleo or the Mbed OS platform. This led to several difficulties in achieving seamless communication between hardware components and the software.

Mismatch with STM32 Libraries The libraries that were accessible were designed for different platforms, such as Arduino or ESP32, and often included dependencies that did not align with the STM32F446RE microcontroller’s architecture. This resulted in compatibility issues, leading to time-consuming workarounds and the need for additional software modifications.
Limited Support for Mbed OS The primary issue was the lack of libraries optimized for Mbed OS, the platform chosen for the project. Many components, such as the display and sensor modules, required libraries tailored specifically for Mbed OS or STM32-based platforms. The absence of such resources led to challenges in efficiently implementing communication Impact on Project Progress Due to the mismatch in available libraries, significant additional effort was required to adapt existing code, create custom drivers, or port libraries from other platforms. This not only delayed development but also required a deeper understanding of both hardware and software integration. Solution and Workaround To overcome these obstacles, the team resorted to manually adapting and modifying the existing libraries. In some cases, low-level programming approaches were implemented to ensure that all components could communicate effectively. Additionally, custom drivers were developed for certain peripherals to ensure compatibility with the STM32F446RE microcontroller. In the future, it would be beneficial to have more readily available and well-documented libraries for STM32F446RE and Mbed OS to streamline the integration process for similar projects.
