Lab Tasks

This week we introduced a lot of the general topics behind the subject of security,

  • What is Security
  • What are the three pillars of cyber security?
  • What is the CIA triangle?

This week we will be doing some research, and discussion to get you thinking about the topics

Note

Yes I know I said practical for the lab tasks. But being able to research and discuss is also important, AND it may well be good practice for the coursework. We will do code and stuff soon.

Task

This week I would like you to do the following:

  1. Take a look at the British Airways Hack in 2018. Read up on the attack and think about the topics we have discussed.

    • What elements of the Three pillars relate to the attack
    • What elements of the CIA triangle relate to the attack.

  2. Pick an interesting cyber attack that has happened recently (information governance has some good links ), and do the same.

    • What is interesting about the attack
    • What parts of the Three Pillars / CIA triangle were broken.

    Feel free to discuss the attack with others on Aula, before the Lab session.

BFF

The BFF challenge also starts this week. You can find details in the extra tasks section.

Once you have done the research part of the task, feel free to use any extra lab time to develop your secret message program.
