Module Leader and Team

Schedule of Classes

The lectures for this module are delivered online in the form of a on campus lecture session and an accompying online video. The videos are released on the Friday of the week prior, for example, week two lecture videos will be released on the Friday of week one. The on campus lecture session are held on the following day:

Learning Outcomes

The module will assess the following learning outcomes:

  1. Devise a research question, in conjunction with a personal project supervisor, and select and plan an appropriate primary method to address the question.
  2. Conduct a substantial piece of primary research work (including, but not limited to, an application development, a model or simulation, a business case, or observational or interactional method) in order to address the initial research question.
  3. Conduct such secondary research as to establish the context, need, scope and audience for the project.
  4. Reflect and account for the management of the project, showing consideration for the social, legal, professional and ethical dimensions of the work undertaken.
  5. Present findings of the research in the form of a project report, utilising appropriate academic methods of reporting and citation.

Assessments

The module consists of two assessments, and these are:

  1. Project Proposal (10 Credits)
  2. Project Report (20 Credits)

In order to pass this module, you will need to achieve a module mark of at-least 40% from the Project Proposal and Project Report.

Module Evaluation

Students will be asked to complete a module questionnaire to provide their views on how module. Students are asked to answer the questions as honestly, thoughtfully and fully as they can. The results will be used to guide the future development of the module and help future students. Constructive feedback is welcomed on how the module can be improved for future cohorts of the course. Whilst it will not directly affect the current iteration of the module, it will be (and has been) used to improve future modules delivered by the module leader.
